State Rep. Barbara Wheeler represents the 64th Legislative District in the Illinois House of Representatives. The 64th District is made up of half Lake County and half McHenry County including towns such as Antioch, Fox Lake, Crystal Lake, and McHenry. Wheeler was elected to represent the 64th District in 2012.

Barbara has spent her entire adult life in public service, starting as volunteer for the United States Peace Corps. She later served as a school teacher at Wauconda Middle School and was elected to the McHenry County Board in 2002. As a Board Member, Barbara’s top priorities were conservation and fiscal responsibility. She was awarded the Theta Award from the McHenry County Environmental Defenders for her conservation agenda. Additionally, the County Board improved the bond rating to Aaa during her tenure.

Rep. Wheeler will focus on the needs and priorities of taxpayers and families in Lake and McHenry Counties. Her top priorities are fiscal responsibility, conservation of the Fox River Valley, and bring jobs back to Lake and McHenry Counties.

Wheeler received her B.A. in Education from Loyola University and a Masters in Education, Language, and Literacy from National Louis University.

Representative Wheeler, her husband Joe and their five children have lived in Crystal Lake since 1998. She was born and raised in Lake County. They are active members and volunteers at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
